Google Business Profile suspended? Fix it, then appeal
Your listing vanished from Maps, or the dashboard says suspended or disabled. Calls drop overnight. Appeals succeed when the cause is fixed first and the evidence is clear.
Do these first, right now
- 1Do not create a new profile for the same business. Duplicates make it worse.
- 2Read the exact message in your profile dashboard: suspended, disabled or “pending”. Each has a different path.
- 3Compare your profile with Google’s guidelines: name, address and category are the usual culprits.
- 4Collect evidence: a utility bill or registration in the business name, shop photos with the signboard, and the GST certificate.

Why profiles get suspended and how appeals work
Google suspends profiles it thinks break its guidelines: keywords stuffed into the business name, a virtual office or home address shown to the public for a service-area business, the wrong category, a recent address or name change, or several profiles for one business. You fix the issue, then file an appeal in the profile’s own support flow with evidence that the business is real and operates as listed.
Signs you may be seeing
- Your listing no longer appears on Google Maps
- The dashboard says “Suspended” or “Disabled”
- Edits are stuck in review for weeks
- Reviews disappeared along with the profile
- Verification keeps failing
The usual causes
Keyword-stuffed name
“Best Dental Clinic Kolkata – Dr Sen” instead of the real business name on your signboard.
Address problems
Virtual offices, co-working desks without signage, or a home address shown for a business customers do not visit.
Big edits at once
Changing name, address and category together can trigger a review.
Fix it yourself: step by step
If you have access and some confidence, you can try these. Stop if anything looks unfamiliar; a wrong step can make it worse.
- 1
Fix the name and category
Use exactly the name on your signboard, registration and website. Pick the most specific primary category.
- 2
Fix the address setting
Service-area businesses without a customer-facing shop should hide the address and list service areas instead.
- 3
Prepare evidence
Business registration or GST certificate, a utility bill or rent agreement at the address, and clear photos of the shop front with signage and the street.
- 4
File the appeal
Use the appeal option shown in your profile or Google’s Business Profile appeals tool. One clear appeal is better than several.
- 5
Wait, and do not edit
Appeals can take days to weeks. Editing during review can reset it.
