Dietitian and nutritionist apps at Nexta, in short

Dietitian app development means building a branded app and dashboard for a dietitian, nutritionist or nutrition clinic: client intake, diet plans built from Indian foods, food and weight logs, check-ins, consultations, reminders and package payments. Nexta builds these for Android, iOS and web, with health data handled under India's DPDP Act and no health claims in the product. A first app starts from ₹49,999 on App Lite and usually launches in four to ten weeks.

What dietitians tell us before switching

“"I send diet charts as PDFs and clients say they lost them"”

Every revision is a new PDF in a long WhatsApp chat. A month later, the client is following week one's plan and you cannot tell.

“"Food photos arrive at midnight and my phone never stops"”

Clients mean well, but your personal number has become a 24-hour helpline. There is no line between work time and family time.

“"Clients drop off after the third week"”

Check-ins are remembered by you, not by a system. When you get busy, the follow-up slips and so does the client.

“"Calorie apps do not know luchi, shukto or poha"”

Clients try popular apps built on foreign food lists, log the wrong items and get confusing numbers. Then they ask you to explain the app instead of the diet.

“"I chase payments for three-month packages myself"”

Renewal dates live in your head or a notebook, and asking a client for money in the same chat as their diet feels awkward.

What our dietitian app development includes

Client intake and consent

New clients fill in goals, food habits, allergies, medical conditions and current medicines in the app before the first call, with a clear consent note on how this data is used. You walk into the consultation already knowing the basics.

Diet plan builder with Indian foods

Build plans from your own recipes and portion sizes, with nutrient reference values taken from ICMR-NIN's Indian Food Composition Tables where they apply. Bengali, North Indian, South Indian, Jain and vegetarian dishes sit alongside your templates for diabetes, PCOS or sports clients.

Food logs and progress

Clients log meals with a photo or a quick tap, plus weight, measurements, water and sleep. You see a weekly summary with charts instead of scrolling through hundreds of messages.

Scheduled check-ins and chat with office hours

Weekly check-in forms go out automatically and land in your review list. In-app chat shows your working hours, so clients know when to expect a reply and your personal number stays personal.

Consultation booking and video calls

Clients book first consultations and follow-ups from the app, pay in advance and join video calls from the same screen. Reminders go out on WhatsApp so fewer people miss their slot.

Packages, payments and renewals

One-month, three-month or six-month packages paid by UPI, card or UPI AutoPay where you want auto-renewal, with GST invoices if you are registered. The app sends the renewal reminder so you do not have to.

Team and clinic features

For nutrition clinics with several dietitians: client assignment, shared recipe library, workload view and hand-over notes when a dietitian goes on leave.

How we build and launch your app

  1. 1Day 1-2

    Free call about your practice

We learn how you take clients today, which packages you sell and what eats your time. If a ready-made dietitian software suits you better for now, we will say so.

  2. 2Week 1-2

    Screens and food library

We design screens in your brand and set up the food and recipe library, starting from your existing diet charts.

  3. 3Week 2-8

Build and trial with real clients

We build the client app and your dashboard, then you try it with a few clients who agree to test it while still on WhatsApp as a backup.

  4. 4Week 4-10

    Store release

Release on Play Store and App Store under your own accounts. The store listing describes the service plainly, without weight-loss promises.

  5. 5After launch

    Move clients over

A short welcome message and video for clients, and import of active clients' plans so nobody restarts from zero.

What you get

  • Client app for Android and iOS in your brand
  • Web dashboard for you and your team
  • Intake forms with consent notice and health history fields you choose
  • Diet plan builder with your recipes and an Indian food reference library
  • Food, weight and measurement logs with weekly progress charts
  • Check-in forms, office-hours chat and WhatsApp reminders
  • Consultation booking, payments, packages and GST invoices
  • Export of diet plans as a clean PDF when a client asks for one
  • Store listings published under your developer accounts
  • Source code, documentation and admin access in your name

Every price shows GST and the total. Nothing is added after you enquire.

What makes our approach different

Built for your practice, not a calorie counter

Most diet apps are consumer products that try to replace the dietitian. Ours is a tool for you: the plan, the advice and the relationship stay yours, and the app handles everything around them.

No health claims, anywhere

We do not put promises like guaranteed weight loss or reversal of conditions in the app, its notifications or its store listing. Results depend on the client and the professional, and the product says nothing more than that.

Health data treated as sensitive

Medical conditions, medicines and body measurements are protected with encryption, restricted access and deletion on request, in line with India's DPDP Act and Rules. Data is hosted in India by default, on servers our own team manages.

Indian food, Indian languages

Food lists and app text can be in English, Hindi or Bengali, and the library includes the dishes your clients actually eat at home and at weddings.

Is this right for you?

A good fit if

  • Dietitians and nutritionists with an established client base on WhatsApp
  • Nutrition clinics with several dietitians sharing clients
  • Hospital or diabetes clinic nutrition teams wanting a branded follow-up app
  • Coaches combining nutrition with fitness programmes, alongside a gym app

Probably not the right fit if

  • Someone just starting out with a few clients: a ready-made tool or a simple website is enough for now
  • A consumer app promising weight loss without a qualified professional in the loop
  • Anyone wanting AI to write and send diet plans without a dietitian reviewing them

Dietitian and nutritionist apps: frequently asked questions

Something else? Call +91 7500-4300-91 or WhatsApp us.

A branded dietitian app on our App Lite package starts from ₹49,999. A larger system for a nutrition clinic, with several dietitians, video consultations and AutoPay renewals, is an MVP build from ₹2,50,000. Tell us about your packages and client numbers on a free call and the fixed price reaches you in writing within a day. Store, gateway, video and messaging fees are separate.

Not for everyone. Ready-made software is cheaper when you are starting out or have few clients. Your own app makes sense once your brand brings in clients, you run several packages, or you want clients to stay inside your app rather than a vendor's. We will tell you honestly which stage you are at.

Yes. We start from your own recipes and portion sizes and use ICMR-NIN's Indian Food Composition Tables as a nutrient reference for raw foods where they apply. Home dishes like dal, sabzi, luchi or idli are added as recipes, so the values follow how your clients actually cook.

We can add AI that drafts a plan from your templates to save you typing, but a dietitian must review and approve every plan before the client sees it. We do not build apps that send AI-generated diet advice straight to clients, because that removes the professional judgement clients are paying for.

Medical history, medicines and measurements are encrypted, visible only to you and staff you allow, and hosted in India by default. Clients see a clear consent notice when they sign up and can ask for their data to be deleted. These follow the DPDP Act and the Rules notified in 2025.

Some will, some will not. We keep logging quick, with a photo or a tap on foods from their plan, and send gentle reminders you control. The weekly check-in form matters more than daily logs for most dietitians, so the app is built to work even with lighter logging.

An App Lite build usually launches in four to six weeks, including store review. Clinic builds with teams and video consultations typically take eight to ten weeks. The go-live date is given in writing with your quote.

Yes. We build for dietitians and nutrition practices in the UK, Gulf, Australia and North America, with local payment gateways, local food lists where you supply them and privacy settings for your country's law. Quotes can be given in USD, GBP or AED.
