Subscription management software at Nexta, in short

Subscription management software handles recurring billing for you: plans, trials, UPI AutoPay and card e-mandates, renewals, GST invoices, failed-payment follow-up and a page where customers manage their own plan. Nexta builds it for businesses whose billing does not fit an off-the-shelf tool, following RBI's e-mandate rules. Builds start from ₹1,50,000, usually after a ₹24,999 discovery sprint, and a first version typically takes eight to fourteen weeks.

Signs your recurring billing has outgrown payment links

“"We send payment links on WhatsApp every month"”

Tiffin services, coaching classes, ISPs, cable operators and clinics with packages all do this. Someone spends the first week of every month sending links and the second week chasing the ones who did not pay.

“"Renewals fail and we find out from an angry customer"”

A debit fails for low balance, nobody notices, the service gets cut, and the customer calls saying they had AutoPay on. Nothing in your system said the payment failed.

“"The customer cancelled AutoPay from the UPI app"”

UPI apps let customers pause or revoke a mandate any time. If your software does not hear about it, it keeps showing the subscription as active and plans deliveries that will never be paid for.

“"Upgrades in the middle of the month are a mess"”

A customer moves from the basic plan to the premium one on the 17th. How much to charge, which invoice to raise, when the next debit happens: it gets worked out by hand every time.

“"Chargebee or Zoho does not fit how we sell"”

Family plans, school-term fees, usage-based charges, security deposits or a field team collecting cash alongside AutoPay. Off-the-shelf tools bend only so far before staff start keeping a side Excel sheet.

What our subscription management software does

Plans that match your business

Monthly, quarterly, yearly, term-wise or usage-based plans, with trials, setup fees, add-ons and coupons. Proration rules for upgrades and downgrades are written down once and applied the same way every time.

UPI AutoPay and card e-mandates

Customers approve a mandate once through your gateway (Razorpay, Cashfree, PhonePe or similar) and renewals are debited automatically. For larger amounts paid from a bank account, we can add eNACH as another route where your gateway supports it.

Built to RBI's e-mandate rules

We design around the current framework: auto-debit limits without extra authentication, a pre-debit notification at least 24 hours before each charge, and the customer's right to pause or cancel. Mandate cancellations from the bank or UPI app flow back into your system through webhooks.

Failed-payment recovery that stays polite

When a debit fails, the customer gets a clear WhatsApp, SMS or email message with a one-tap payment link, and your team sees the account in a follow-up list. You decide the grace period and when service pauses, so nobody is cut off by surprise.

GST invoices on every cycle

Each successful renewal raises a numbered GST invoice, with credit notes for refunds and adjustments. Monthly export for Tally or your accountant, with gateway settlements matched to invoices.

Customer self-service page

Customers can view invoices, change plan, update their payment method, pause or cancel without calling you. In English, Hindi or Bengali if your customers prefer it.

Owner dashboard

Active subscribers, renewals due this week, failed payments, cancellations and monthly recurring revenue on one screen. Numbers come straight from billing data, not a separate report someone updates.

How we build and switch you over

  1. 1Week 1-2

    Discovery sprint

We map your plans, pricing rules, payment methods and edge cases, such as pauses, refunds and cash payments. You receive a written specification, screens and a fixed build quote; the sprint fee is credited to the build.

  2. 2Week 2-3

    Gateway and mandate setup

You enable recurring payments on your gateway account; approval for this is separate from normal payments on most gateways. We test mandate creation in sandbox for UPI and cards.

  3. 3Week 3-11

    Build in short cycles

Billing engine, invoices, notifications, customer page and dashboard are built in two-week cycles. You see working screens at the end of each cycle, not only at the end.

  4. 4Week 10-13

    Migration and parallel run

Existing subscribers are imported and asked to set up a mandate. For one billing cycle we run alongside your old process so nothing is missed.

  5. 5Week 12-14

    Go-live and support

Go-live on the date agreed in writing, with training for your staff and a support plan after launch.

What you get

  • Billing engine with your plans, trials, add-ons, coupons and proration rules
  • UPI AutoPay and card mandate flows through your own gateway account
  • Webhook handling for successful, failed, paused and cancelled mandates
  • Failed-payment messages on WhatsApp, SMS or email with payment links
  • GST invoices and credit notes for every cycle, with Tally-ready export
  • Customer self-service page for plan changes, invoices and cancellation
  • Owner dashboard for subscribers, renewals, failures and recurring revenue
  • Import of existing subscribers and their history
  • Source code, documentation and admin access in your name

Why work with us on recurring billing

We bill recurring customers ourselves

Our hosting brand, TPHOST, renews hosting and VPS plans for customers every month and year. Expired cards, low balances and forgotten renewals are problems we deal with in our own business, not only in client projects.

Honest build-or-buy advice

If Razorpay Subscriptions, Zoho Billing or Chargebee covers your plans, we will say so and help you set it up instead. We only recommend custom software when your billing rules or your product genuinely need it.

Payment security is our home ground

Nexta is PCI DSS certified and keeps card details with the gateway, never in your database. Mandates and saved cards work through gateway tokens.

Indian billing reality built in

Cash collected at the door by delivery staff, a cheque from a school, a UPI payment outside the mandate: real businesses mix these. The software records every route against the same subscription so the books add up.

Is this right for you?

A good fit if

  • Subscription businesses with plan rules that off-the-shelf tools cannot model
  • Apps and SaaS products where billing must live inside the product
  • Coaching institutes, schools, ISPs, tiffin and delivery services moving off monthly payment links
  • Businesses with several branches or brands billing the same customers

Probably not the right fit if

  • A handful of subscribers on one simple plan: a gateway's built-in subscriptions feature is enough
  • Anyone wanting to debit customers without clear consent or notice: the rules do not allow it and we will not build it
  • Teams expecting a working system in a week: billing logic needs testing across full billing cycles

Subscription management software: frequently asked questions

Builds start from ₹1,50,000. Most projects begin with a two-week discovery sprint at ₹24,999, which is credited to the build, and ends with a fixed written quote. Cost depends on how many plan types, payment routes and integrations you need, such as your app, CRM or Tally. Gateway and messaging charges are separate.

Under RBI's Digital Payments E-mandate Framework, 2026, recurring debits up to 15,000 rupees per transaction can run without extra authentication, and up to 1 lakh for insurance premiums, mutual fund subscriptions and credit card bills. Above that, the customer authenticates each debit. The bank or UPI app must notify the customer at least 24 hours before each debit, and customers can modify or cancel a mandate.

The gateway sends a mandate cancellation event, and our software marks the subscription accordingly, stops planning future debits and tells your team. The customer can be sent a polite message asking whether they want to continue by another payment method. Without this, many systems keep showing customers as active long after the mandate has gone.

Often, yes. If your plans are standard monthly or yearly prices, those tools are cheaper and faster than a custom build. Custom makes sense when your billing logic is unusual, when billing must sit inside your own app, or when monthly per-subscriber fees on a large base outgrow the cost of owning the software.

Most failures are low balance or expired cards, not technical errors. We send the customer a reminder before the debit date, a clear message with a payment link if it fails, and a short grace period you control. Your staff get a daily list of failed accounts instead of discovering them weeks later.

Yes. Every successful renewal creates a numbered GST invoice with your GSTIN, the customer's GSTIN if they are a business, and the correct tax split for intra-state or inter-state supply. Credit notes are raised for refunds. Your accountant gets a monthly export that matches gateway settlements.

A first live version usually takes eight to fourteen weeks after the discovery sprint, including one billing cycle running alongside your old process. Simple setups can be faster. You get the go-live date in writing with the fixed quote.

Yes. For clients in the UK, Gulf, Australia and North America we build on Stripe or other gateways that support recurring card and bank debits in your country, with local tax on invoices. Quotes are available in USD, GBP or AED.
