Food & grocery delivery app at Nexta, in short

Food delivery app development at Nexta covers the four parts a delivery business needs: a customer app, a store or kitchen panel, a rider app with live tracking and cash collection, and an admin console for zones, slots, fees and payouts. It suits grocery chains, sweet shops, supermarkets and local delivery start-ups. MVP builds start from ₹2,50,000 with a fixed written quote, and a first version usually launches in 10 to 14 weeks.

Why delivery owners call us

“Customers send the list on WhatsApp and we type it all in”

Every evening someone reads blurry photos of handwritten lists, checks stock, calls back about missing items and then works out the bill. It works at twenty orders a day and falls apart at eighty.

“Cash on delivery orders get refused at the door”

The rider rides fifteen minutes, the customer has changed their mind, and the cold items go back on the shelf. Nobody tracks which numbers do this repeatedly.

“We cannot see where the riders are”

Customers call the shop asking where their order is and the shop calls the rider, who is on a bike and cannot answer. At day end the cash in hand never quite matches the COD list.

“The ready-made script looked cheap, until we needed one change”

A clone app bought online came with code nobody can modify, a backend in someone else’s name and an iPhone version Apple would not accept. Now the vendor has stopped replying.

“The app says in stock but the shelf is empty”

Stock is updated in the billing software at the counter and never reaches the app, so pickers spend half their time calling customers about substitutes.

What our food delivery app development includes

Customer app

Search that understands “aloo” and “potato”, categories, repeat-last-order, saved addresses with map pins, slot or instant delivery, and order tracking. Built in Flutter so Android and iPhone share one codebase.

Store and picker panel

Orders arrive with a picking list sorted by aisle. Pickers mark items as found, replaced or missing, and the customer approves substitutes in the app instead of on a phone call.

Rider app

Assigned orders with route directions, OTP or photo proof of delivery, live location shared with the customer and a cash ledger for every COD order, so evening settlement takes minutes.

Admin console with zones and slots

Draw delivery zones on a map or by PIN code, set delivery fees by distance or basket size, cap slots by rider count, and close a zone during a downpour with one switch.

Payments, UPI and COD rules

UPI, cards and wallets through Razorpay, PhonePe or Cashfree, with webhook-confirmed payment status. COD limits per customer, OTP check on first COD order and automatic blocking after repeated refusals.

Stock sync with your billing software

We connect the app to your existing billing or ERP so stock and prices update from one place, or we add a simple inventory module if you have none. Tally export for your accountant.

Notifications that people read

Order confirmations and “rider is near” updates by push, SMS on DLT-registered templates or WhatsApp through the official Business Platform for customers who opted in.

From first call to the first real order

  1. 1Week 1

    Business model call

Single store or marketplace, own riders or a third-party fleet, instant or slot delivery. These answers change the build more than any feature list.

  2. 2Week 2-3

    Screens and data plan

Clickable prototypes of all four apps plus a written data plan for products, zones, pricing and payouts, signed off by you.

  3. 3Week 3-11

    Build and weekly demos

Backend and admin first, then customer and rider apps. You see working builds on your own phone every week.

  4. 4Week 11-13

    Soft launch in one zone

Friends, staff and regulars order for real in one small area. We fix what they hit before you spend on promotion.

  5. 5Week 13-14

    Store listing and wider launch

Play Store and App Store submission under your own developer accounts, then zone by zone expansion.

Pricing

From ₹2,50,000 + GST

₹2,95,000 including GST

A delivery platform MVP with customer, store, rider and admin apps starts from ₹2,50,000 under our MVP app package. Scope and price are fixed in writing after a free call. Maps usage, SMS, WhatsApp, payment gateway and app store fees are billed at cost.

Every price shows GST and the total. Nothing is added after you enquire.

What we do differently from script sellers

Your code, your accounts

The apps are published from your Google Play and Apple developer accounts and the code repository is yours. Apple’s review guidelines reject apps built from commercial templates unless the content owner submits them, which is why many resold scripts never reach iPhones.

Built for one town before ten

We help you launch tight: one zone, one store, a few riders. Features like multi-vendor commissions or surge pricing are added when your order data shows you need them, not on day one.

Server work stays in-house

We run our own hosting brand, TPHOST, so hosting, backups, monitoring and security are handled by the people who built the app. No three-way blame between developer, host and you.

Honest about delivery economics

Before building we walk through average basket value, delivery cost per order and rider utilisation with you. If the numbers do not work at your basket size, an app will not fix that, and we would rather say it early.

Is this right for you?

A good fit if

  • Supermarkets, grocery chains and sweet shops with existing customers and stock
  • Restaurant groups or cloud kitchens that want their own delivery channel and riders
  • Local delivery start-ups covering towns where the big apps have thin coverage
  • Grocery and food businesses in the Gulf, UK or Australia serving a defined area

Probably not the right fit if

  • Ten to thirty minute dark-store delivery, which needs a different build (see our quick commerce page)
  • Founders who want a full Swiggy-scale marketplace on a small first budget
  • Single shops taking a handful of orders a day, where a WhatsApp catalogue and a payment link are enough

Our MVP app package starts from ₹2,50,000 plus GST and covers a customer app, store panel, rider app and admin console with one payment gateway. Multi-vendor marketplaces, commission splits and ERP integrations add to that. After a free call you get a fixed written quote within 24 hours, with running costs such as maps, SMS and hosting listed separately.

A first version usually takes 10 to 14 weeks including a soft launch in one zone. The schedule is written into the quote. App store review adds a few days, so we submit early and keep a buffer before any launch date you announce publicly.

We can build the same kind of system: customer, store, rider and admin apps. What we will not promise is their scale on a starting budget. We start with the features a local business needs to take real orders, then add marketplace features once order volume justifies them.

Not necessarily. Many stores begin with two or three of their own riders and hand overflow or far orders to a third-party delivery partner through its API where one is available. The rider app and admin console support both, so you can change the mix later.

COD stays available but controlled. You can set a COD limit, require an OTP on a customer’s first COD order, block numbers after repeated refusals and offer a small discount for paying by UPI. The rider app records every cash collection so evening settlement is a checklist, not an argument.

At the start, yes. The trouble comes later: locked code, licence limits, a backend you do not control and difficulty getting template apps approved on the App Store. If you only need a quick trial, a script can work. If the delivery business is your main business, owning the code is safer.

UPI, debit and credit cards, net banking and wallets through gateways such as Razorpay, PhonePe or Cashfree, plus COD. For clients abroad we use Stripe or a local gateway. Order status updates only after the gateway confirms payment through a webhook, so failed payments do not turn into dispatched orders.

Yes. We build for businesses in the UK, Gulf, Australia and North America with fixed quotes in GBP, AED or USD on request. Meetings happen over video during our office hours or an agreed overlap slot, and app store accounts, gateway and hosting are set up in your company’s name.
