Wix vs WordPress in India: an honest comparison

The short answer
Wix is the quicker do-it-yourself option: drag and drop, hosting included, nothing to update, billed as a yearly plan. WordPress (the free software from WordPress.org) needs separate hosting and some upkeep, but you own everything, can move hosts anytime, and the plugin choice is far larger. For a business that will grow, add features or hire developers, WordPress is usually the better long-term choice. For a simple personal or portfolio site you will build yourself, Wix is fine.

Wix makes sense when
- You will build and edit the site yourself and want no technical upkeep.
- It is a small portfolio, event or personal site.
- You do not expect complex features or integrations.
WordPress makes sense when
- You want to own the site fully and be free to change developers or hosts.
- You need an online store, booking, memberships or a Bengali/Hindi version.
- SEO and content will be a long-term channel.
- A developer or agency will build and maintain it.
