Server colocation at Nexta, in short
Server colocation services place servers you own in a professional data centre, which provides rack space, power, cooling and network. Nexta plans the move, compares facility quotes line by line, prepares your hardware with out-of-band access, installs it, coordinates remote hands and monitors it afterwards. It suits businesses with their own servers and steady workloads. Facility charges are passed through at cost; our planning and management are quoted fixed within 24 hours.

Why businesses start looking at colocation
“"Our server sits in a cupboard next to the AC"”
One power cut longer than the UPS battery and the ERP goes down for every branch. Summer heat and dust do the rest.
“"We already paid for good servers"”
Moving to the cloud would mean paying again every month for capacity you already own, and some of your software is licensed to that hardware.
“"The data centre quoted rack and power, but who installs it?"”
The facility rents space and power. Racking, cabling, network setup, operating system and backups are left for you to organise, often from another city.
“"Remote hands charges surprised us"”
A simple disk swap or reboot came with a bill nobody expected, and nobody had labelled which server was which.
“"Our office line is not good enough for branch users"”
Staff in other towns or abroad connect to a server behind a broadband line that slows to a crawl every evening.
What our server colocation services include
Requirements and the honest question first
We work out how much rack space, power and bandwidth you really need, and how much downtime you can tolerate. We also check whether a dedicated server or cloud would cost less over three years. If it would, we say so before you sign anything.
Facility quotes compared line by line
Colocation bills have many parts: rack units, power allocation, bandwidth or port speed, IP addresses, cross-connects, remote-hands rates, setup fees and contract length. We put each quote into one table so the real monthly cost is visible before you commit.
Hardware readiness
Before the move we update firmware, check RAID and disks, confirm dual power supplies, label every server and cable, and set up out-of-band management through IPMI, iDRAC or iLO so the machine can be reached even when its operating system is not responding.
Move day
A written plan covers backups before shutdown, packing, transport, racking, cabling, IP changes, DNS updates and a test checklist. Your users get a notice of the downtime window, and a rollback plan is ready if anything goes wrong.
Remote hands coordination
When a disk fails or a server needs a physical reset, we raise the ticket with the facility, give their technician exact instructions and confirm the result. You do not need to explain rack numbers over the phone.
Monitoring, backups and patching after the move
Your colocated servers join our monitoring, with alerts for hardware health, power supply faults and disk failures. Off-site backups to a second location and regular patching keep running as agreed.
Documentation you own
Rack diagram, cabling map, IP plan, access list and contacts at the facility are written down and handed over. If you change who manages it later, the next team can take over without a site visit.
From office cupboard to data centre rack
- 1Week 1
Free call and assessment
We look at your current servers, workloads and growth plans, and tell you whether colocation makes sense at all.
- 2Week 1-2
Facility options and costs
Suitable facility options are shared with full cost breakdowns, and you choose. Facility details are shared on request.
- 3Week 2-3
Hardware preparation
Firmware, RAID, labels, out-of-band access and a full backup are completed while the servers are still in your office.

Migration
The move happens in an agreed window, usually a weekend or holiday, with testing before users return.
- 5Monthly
Ongoing management
Monitoring, patching, backups and remote hands coordination continue under a monthly plan.

Pricing
Fixed quote within 24 hours
Two parts. Facility charges for space, power, bandwidth and remote hands are set by the data centre and passed through at cost, or contracted by you directly. Our planning, migration and monthly management are quoted as fixed fees in writing within 24 hours of a free call.
Every price shows GST and the total. Nothing is added after you enquire.
How we approach colocation
We sit on your side of the table
Data centres sell space and power. We look after your interest: what you actually need, what each line on the bill means and where costs can surprise you later.
Hosting people, not only movers
Nexta runs its own hosting brand, TPHOST, so servers, networks and backups are everyday work. After the move, the same team keeps your machines patched and watched.
No invented numbers
Uptime, power redundancy and certifications belong to the facility. We share the facility's own written terms and certificates on request, instead of printing figures on our website that we do not control.
We will tell you not to colocate
For one small server or a fast-changing workload, a dedicated server or cloud VPS is often simpler and cheaper. We would rather lose the colocation job than put you in the wrong setup.
Is this right for you?
A good fit if
- Businesses that own servers with life left in them and run steady workloads
- Companies whose office power or internet keeps taking a critical server offline
- Firms with software licensed to specific hardware, or data that must stay on owned machines
- Teams that have a data centre quote but no one to plan, install and manage the servers
Probably not the right fit if
- A single small server: a dedicated server or VPS is usually cheaper and simpler
- Workloads that grow and shrink quickly, which suit cloud better
- Buyers looking for a guaranteed uptime percentage from us: that comes from the facility's own contract
